Memorial Day mattress sales 2024: Your guide to the best deals
Memorial Day mattress sales will soon be live — here's how to pick the best deal for you
Memorial Day mattress sales are your best chance to secure a big discount on some of this year's top-rated beds before prices increase over the summer months. This year, Memorial Day takes place on Monday 27th May, so if you're in need of a new mattress, now is the time to start thinking about what type of bed you want.
We're expecting many of this year's best mattresses for every budget to appear in the Memorial Day sales, and we predict there'll be notable price drops from the likes of Helix Sleep, Saatva and Emma Sleep. Our team has been tracking Memorial Day mattress deals for years. If previous discounts are any indication of what we can expect this May, then we're likely to see the biggest savings on hybrid and memory foam mattresses in a box.
Brands including Nectar Sleep and DreamCloud Sleep have traditionally run flash sales just before Memorial Day. However as the DreamCloud up to 50% off flash sale is still running after launching a few months ago, we doubt we'll see increased discounts from those brands come Memorial Day compared to the mattress sales we're seeing from them today.
To help you shop confidently, we'll be updating this guide regularly with our expert recommendations on which mattresses are worth buying now and which ones you should wait to buy in the Memorial Day sales.

The No 1 mattress we'd buy in the Memorial Day sales
Saatva Classic: <a href="https://www.prf.hn/click/camref:1100l8udd/pubref:hawk-custom-tracking/destination:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.saatva.com%2Fmattresses%2Fsaatva-classic" data-link-merchant="saatva.com"" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">was $1,395 | now $1,195 at Saatva
The Saatva Classic is this year's <a href="https://www.tomsguide.com/best-picks/best-hybrid-mattress" data-link-merchant="tomsguide.com"" data-link-merchant="saatva.com"" target="_self">best hybrid mattress, with a queen currently on sale for $1,795 (was $2,095). It comes in two heights and three firmness levels, so there's an option to suit most sleepers. Testers for our year-long <a href="https://www.tomsguide.com/reviews/saatva-classic-mattress" data-link-merchant="tomsguide.com"" data-link-merchant="tomsguide.com"" data-link-merchant="saatva.com"" target="_self">Saatva Classic mattress review found it breathable and packed with comfy back support. It's a great mattress for people with general aches and pains, and our top choice for recreating luxury hotel sleep at home. Saatva recently increased the MSRP on its mattresses but we predict they will fall again nearer to Memorial Day. So unless you need a new bed urgently, consider waiting to buy. If do need a new mattress now and want the Saatva Classic, we feel this price is still good value for a handcrafted mattress made with certified organic materials and offered with a year's trial, lifetime warranty and free mattress installation and old bed removal.
Top 7 mattress sales we'd buy before Memorial Day
We'll be updating this guide regularly with the best Memorial Day mattress sales as they go live, but right now we're seeing seven deals that are worth buying today – don't wait for Memorial Day. Why buy now? Because some of these sales are time-sensitive and will end before Memorial Day arrives. Others are excellent sale offers that we doubt will be bettered by any official Memorial Day deals, so there's no need to wait if you need a new mattress now and fancy one of these.
1. The DreamCloud: <a href="https://dreamcloudsleep.xuok.net/c/221109/473934/8339?subId1=hawk-custom-tracking&sharedId=hawk&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dreamcloudsleep.com%2F" data-link-merchant="dreamcloudsleep.com"" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">was $839 | now $419 at DreamCloud Sleep
If you love the Saatva Classic but have a smaller budget, pick The DreamCloud. This is an excellent hybrid mattress for the money, with a queen size reduced to $665 (was $1,332) in today's <a href="https://www.tomsguide.com/news/dreamcloud-mattress-sale-deals-discounts-prices" data-link-merchant="tomsguide.com"" data-link-merchant="dreamcloudsleep.com"">DreamCloud mattress sale. The brand is calling it a flash sale but it's actually been running for over four months – and we don't think the price will be beaten during the Memorial Day sales. Our <a href="https://www.tomsguide.com/reviews/dreamcloud-mattress" data-link-merchant="tomsguide.com"" data-link-merchant="tomsguide.com"" data-link-merchant="dreamcloudsleep.com"">DreamCloud mattress review panel rate it highly for motion isolation, so it's a superb choice for couples. The back support and temperature control are great too. You'll get a year's trial with The DreamCloud, plus a lifetime warranty and free shipping and returns.
2. Nectar Memory Foam Mattress: <a href="https://nectar.xovt.net/c/221109/473932/8338?subId1=hawk-custom-tracking&sharedId=hawk&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nectarsleep.com%2Fmattress" data-link-merchant="nectarsleep.com"" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">was $699 |now $349 at Nectar Sleep
The Nectar Mattress is one of the best-selling affordable memory foam beds in America. It performed well during our <a href="https://www.tomsguide.com/reviews/nectar-mattress-review" data-link-merchant="tomsguide.com"" data-link-merchant="nectarsleep.com"">Nectar mattress review in-house testing, with our certified sleep experts recommending it as a good option for back sleepers in particular thanks to it's firmer feel. Nectar Sleep has been running an 'up to 40% off' sale for a few months now, with a queen size Nectar Memory Foam reduced to $699 (was $1,049). We doubt we'll see a bigger discount for Memorial Day, making now the time to buy this mattress at the cheapest price of the year. As with The DreamCloud (Nectar's sister brand), you'll get a year's trial, lifetime warranty and free shipping and returns.
3. Casper One: <a href="https://casper.pxf.io/c/221109/396851/7235?subId1=hawk-custom-tracking&sharedId=hawk&u=https%3A%2F%2Fcasper.com%2Fmattresses%2Fcasper-one-foam.html%3Fsize%3Dtwin" data-link-merchant="casper.com"" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">was $875 | now $600 at Casper
The Casper One is the most affordable option in the reinvented Casper mattress range. It replaces the Casper Original, offering similar levels of contouring to gently hug your curves without sucking you down into the mattress. We're in the middle of testing the Casper One, but from what we've seen so far this is a <a href="https://www.tomsguide.com/best-picks/best-mattress-in-a-box" data-link-merchant="tomsguide.com"" data-link-merchant="casper.com"">great mattress in a box for people wanting a breathable, all-foam bed with a medium-firm feel and good pressure relief. Casper's new 25% off sale matches the discounts we saw during Black Friday, so we doubt this will be increased for Memorial Day. In other words, there's no need to wait on this one. A queen size is discounted to $930 (was $1,245) with a 100-night trial, 10-year limited warranty and free shipping.
4. Avocado Green Mattress: <a href="https://avocadomattress.n5ka.net/c/221109/626062/10135?subId1=hawk-custom-tracking&sharedId=hawk&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.avocadogreenmattress.com%2Fproducts%2Fgreen-natural-organic-mattress" data-link-merchant="avocadogreenmattress.com"" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">was $1,399 | now $1,189 at Avocado Mattress
We normally see sales of around 10% off from Avocado Mattress, so this 15% discount is worth jumping on ahead of the Memorial Day sales. With it you can get a queen size Avocado Green Mattress for $1,699 (was $1,999) – recent sales have discounted it to $1,799, so this is the cheapest price we've seen since Black Friday. The lead tester for our <a href="https://www.tomsguide.com/reviews/avocado-green-mattress" data-link-merchant="tomsguide.com"" data-link-merchant="avocadogreenmattress.com"">Avocado Green Mattress review rates this bed highly for back sleepers and people weighing over 250lbs, praising the firmer feel and even distribution of weight that makes every inch of the mattress supportive. As with Saatva, you'll get a year's trial here, but the warranty is shorter at 25 years compared to Saatva's lifetime guarantee.
5. Tempur-Pedic Essential: <a href="https://www.tempurpedicsale.com/shop-mattresses/tempur-essential/v/3304/" data-link-merchant="tempurpedicsale.com"" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">was $1,699 | now $1,189.30 at Tempur-Pedic
Tempur-Pedic has just launched a time-limited closeout sale, featuring the Essential mattress for side sleepers. You can save over $1,000 on the bed right now and the reason for that rock-bottom price is zero returns or exchanges. As a close-out sale item, stock is limited and the sale is due to end on Thursday 18 April. We may see a similar close-out <a href="https://www.tomsguide.com/deals/tempur-pedic-mattress" data-link-merchant="tomsguide.com"" data-link-merchant="tempurpedicsale.com"">Tempur-Pedic mattress deals closer to Memorial Day but, based on previous sales, we can't guarantee that the Essential will be among the featured mattresses. While there is no sleep trial with the Tempur-Essential, you will get a 10-year warranty and free mattress installation.
6. Emma Hybrid Comfort: <a href="https://shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1943998&u=1338591&m=123747&afftrack=hawk-custom-tracking&urllink=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.emma-sleep.com%2Fproducts%2Femma-hybrid-comfort" data-link-merchant="emma-sleep.com"" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">was $812 | now $409 at Emma Sleep
Here's your chance to get Emma Sleep's popular cooling hybrid mattress for the cheapest price we've seen all year. Even better, this higher saving of 50% off is coupled with two free pillows – previously we've seen 50% off the Emma Hybrid Comfort but no free bedding. A queen size has dropped to $659 (was $1,319), which is a superb price for a comfy hybrid bed designed with Airgocell foam to dissipate heat similar to tech found in the <a href="https://www.tomsguide.com/best-picks/best-cooling-mattress" data-link-merchant="tomsguide.com"" data-link-merchant="emma-sleep.com"">best cooling mattresses. The Emma Hybrid Comfort is on the softer side of medium-firm, making it a good choice for side and stomach sleepers. Back sleepers are better off with The DreamCloud (#1), selling for $665 in a queen size right now.
7. Bear Original Memory Foam: <a href="https://bearmattress.pxf.io/c/221109/1034607/13476?subId1=hawk-custom-tracking&sharedId=hawk&u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bearmattress.com%2Fproducts%2Fbear-original-mattress" data-link-merchant="bearmattress.com"" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">was $786 | now $511 at Bear Mattress
Bear Mattress runs a 35% off sale every month so that money-off discount isn't news. However the big difference right now is that you can get up to $500 of free bedding with the Bear Original, whereas previously you could only get up to $400 of bedding. The Bear Original is a well-rated memory foam mattress in a box and a good option for couples who normally wake each other with their in-bed tossing and turning. A queen size is down to just $649 this side of the Memorial Day sales, with $320 of free pillows and sheets to boost your value for money.
Memorial Day mattress sales: FAQ
When is Memorial Day 2024?
Memorial Day, a major federal holiday honouring military personnel who have died while serving in the U.S. armed forces, takes place on Monday May 27 2024. The holiday also marks the unofficial start of summer.
As with other major deals events, Memorial Day mattress sales usually start a few weeks out from the day itself. That means you can skip the virtual queues and buy in advance to avoid risking any shipping delays that may occur with a higher volume of mattress sale orders placed on Memorial Day itself.
Memorial Day mattress sales 2024: Expert predictions
Our certified sleep experts, mattress writers and deals editors track mattress sales every month so we know a good deal when we spot one. We've also been covering the Memorial Day mattress sales for several years now so are in a position where we can confidently make informed predictions based on our knowledge and analysis of discounts from previous years.
Our top predictions this year are that we'll see temporary price drops from big hitters such as Saatva, Helix Sleep, Nolah Sleep and Leesa, but evergreen offers from Nectar Sleep, DreamCloud and Bear Mattress.
We expect early Memorial Day mattress sales to start rolling in the first week of May, with deals landing regularly in the two weeks before Monday 27th May. This is based on what we've seen from top mattress brands in past Memorial Day sales and during other major sale events, such as Labor Day mattress sales in September and the Black Friday mattress deals in November.
We predict that the MSRPs of Saatva mattresses will drop next month, making them the cheapest we'll see again until Labor Day. We also predict that Helix Sleep will roll out its bigger 25% off plus up to $300 of free bedding offer for Memorial Day, making this available across its top-selling memory foam and hybrid beds.
Otherwise we expect to see evergreen deals dressed up as Memorial Day discounts from the likes of Nectar Sleep, DreamCloud Sleep, Cocoon by Sealy and Awara. Casper is already running a time-limited 25% off sale, which we think will disappear and than make a comeback for Memorial Day.
We aren't expecting any show-stopping Memorial Day mattress sales this year, but we do fully anticipate it being the last best time to buy one of this year's best mattresses at a cheaper price before MSRPs increase throughout the summer months.
Is Memorial Day the best time to buy a mattress?
Memorial Day is one of the best times to buy a mattress. Outside of Black Friday, Memorial Day mattress sales offer the best discounts of the year. You'll see a mix of dollar-off discounts as well as free gift sets bundled with your mattress purchase. Some of the best Memorial Day mattress sales offer both. Last year, Nectar offered up to $399 off mattresses and a bedding bundle worth $399 with every purchase.
It goes without saying that you can find mattress sales any day of the week. However, the reason we recommend you wait till Memorial Day deals are live is because year after year, Memorial Day mattress sales trump any sales launched in April or early May.
We're not talking a difference of just $50 either. Mattress manufacturers go all out with discounts that can save you from $200 to $1,000 off all types of mattresses. The same can be said for deals on bedding like weighted blankets, pillows, and mattress protectors.
Memorial Day mattress sales 2024: What to look for
Buying a mattress is a major investment, so it pays to do some homework before making a purchase. Because prices are so low, many people wait specifically for Memorial Day mattress sales to buy a new mattress, but that doesn't always guarantee you'll get the best deal or the best bed for your budget.
Here are a few tips to ensure you choose the best Memorial Day mattress sale for your body, budget and sleep needs:
- Look for dollar-off discounts instead of percentages: Flashy slogans like 50% off are designed to grab your attention. But a percentage off means nothing if you don't know the dollar-off discount. Always look at the original price and the final/discounted price before you make a final buying decision, that way you'll know just how much you really saved.
- Shop around for mattress coupons: Many mattress manufacturers offer coupons that can save you a few extra dollars or get you a free bedding bundle with your mattress purchase.
- Look for freebies with your purchase: Dollar-off discounts are the way to go when it comes to shopping for a new mattress. But we also recommend looking for freebies that can sweeten your purchase even more. Nectar, which makes our favorite mattress of all time, usually offers a $159 bedding bundle (down from $599) with its mattress purchases. The bundle includes a free mattress protector, sheet set, and pillows.
- Find the best warranty possible: The downside to online mattress shopping is that you can't try out a mattress before you buy it. Fortunately, most mattress manufacturers offer extended trials accompanied by warranties that last 10 or more years. Nectar, for example, offers a 365-night home trial bundled with a forever warranty. To be fair, not all mattress retailers are as generous, but it's worth knowing the warranty and return policy before buying your new mattress.
- Invest as much as you can: A mattresses is something you buy maybe once every 10 years. It's also something you use for hours every day. As a result, you'll want to invest in a good mattress, rather than opting for the cheapest mattress you can find. Not only will your back thank you, but you'll also avoid having to buy a new mattress more frequently.
Do Memorial Day mattress sales include bedding?
Not everyone may need a new mattress. Fortunately, bedding sales will also play a huge role in most Memorial Day mattress sales. You can expect to see sitewide discounts on comforters, bed sheets, pillows, and mattress toppers. Even some dog beds may see epic discounts as we approach the holiday. The holiday is not only great for mattress sales, but all things mattress related.
What is the best month to buy a mattress on sale?
Traditionally, November is the best month to buy a new mattress because Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales offers the best prices of the year hands down. However, not everyone can wait till the end of the year to buy a new mattress. That's where Memorial Day mattress sales come into the picture.
Memorial Day is known for offering steep price cuts that you'll likely not see again till November and December. Sure, you'll find mattress deals on the 4th of July and even on Prime Day, but prices on Memorial Day tend to be the best outside of the winter holiday season.
Prime Day vs Memorial Day mattress sales
While there's no official date, we know that Prime Day will occur in July. That begs the question — are mattresses cheaper during Prime Day or during Memorial Day. The answer: Memorial Day. Prime Day deals tend to focus on Amazon devices, whether it's Amazon's Alexa-based devices or its line of apparel.
Yes, we'll see mattress discounts on Prime Day, but they'll be limited to Amazon price drops only. Meanwhile, Memorial Day mattress sales can be found at any mattress manufacturer or retailer. The price drops are steeper and your options are greater.
Last year's best Memorial Day mattress sales: Analysis
Last year's best Memorial Day mattress sale came from Nectar Sleep, with 33% off everything sitewide. The Nectar Memory Foam Mattress is our top value memory foam mattress.
After discount, the Nectar Memory Foam (queen) dropped to $699, which is its second-best price of the year and just $70 shy of its all-time price low (which we saw on Black Friday). Nectar mattresses are always on sale — even outside of major holidays. However, it's on big holidays like Memorial Day that you'll find lower prices than your everyday sale.
Another great mattress sale came from Saatva, with up to $600 off select mattress purchases. After discount, you could have bought the Saatva Classic (queen) for $1,695. Earlier this year Saatva increased the price of its mattress, however; this is the lowest price we've seen since the increase. Additionally, the last Memorial Day mattress sale knocked the price of a twin mattress to $770. (The twin is rarely on sale).
